Be straight about the geography and the London work makes sense: the bookings cluster at the big sites and towns around the M25 - Dunstable to the north-west, the Essex industrial belt to the east - with the occasional inner-city job thrown in. The M1 runs straight onto them, which is why the same trucks that cover the Midlands can do a London weekend without breaking the schedule.
The kit that goes down regularly has got rounder: waltzers and a Miami one August, a Christmas grotto with the carnival stalls and the chair-o-planes in December, a stall row inside a Grade II-listed music hall in February. Multi-product bookings with counted-out portions of candy floss are the shape of it - the fair arrives as part of a programme, and the stalls do their share of the taking.
