A full-size travelling dark ride

This is Whiting's Ghost Train, a full-size travelling fairground ride with an enclosed track behind a two-level painted frontage. Cars enter through the opening on the left, travel through the dark interior and return to the fenced loading platform at the front.

The frontage is the attraction before anyone gets into a car. It is painted edge to edge with horror figures, lightning, faces and old film monsters, with sculpted figures standing out from the panels and GHOST TRAIN picked out in illuminated letters across the top. Circular light panels run along the lower canopy and the whole thing changes character once it gets dark.

It works for corporate family fun days, public fairs and larger private events, either as the main attraction or alongside the Dodgems, Waltzer and Ferris Wheel. Four-hour, full-day, multi-day and longer hires are available.

  • Full Travelling Dark Ride

    The complete enclosed Ghost Train with its internal track, ride cars, two-level painted frontage and fenced loading deck.

  • Illuminated Frontage

    Bulb lettering, canopy lights and circular panels run across the frontage, along with painted and sculpted horror figures.

  • Optional Ride Photos

    A ride-photo booth is available. Individual prints are £3 each or £5 for two, and inclusive corporate photo packages can be quoted where guests should not pay separately.

  • Flexible Hire Periods

    Four-hour, full-day, multi-day and longer bookings are available, with operating times agreed around the event schedule.

  • £5m Public Liability

    Five million pounds of public liability insurance is held, with risk assessments and method statements supplied for the agreed setup.

  • Nationwide Delivery

    We quote for events across the UK from Rotherham. The postcode, vehicle access and hire period all feed into the delivered price.

Space and access

The ride footprint is 78ft x 18ft. Allowing the painted ride itself to fit is only the first part of the check; the queue, barriers, crew working area and the approach for the transport all need to work as well.

The ride can be installed indoors or outdoors on artificial grass, hard surfaces, concrete, grass, mixed grass and hard standing, or wood chip, subject to the actual levels and access being suitable. Send us the usable space, surface, vehicle route and event timings when you enquire and we will check the proposed position.

The exact power, staffing and final access requirements are agreed for the site before booking. Rider capacity and age or height restrictions are confirmed at the same point, rather than copied from another travelling dark ride.

Two levels of painted and sculpted scenery

What guests see from the front

The upper level carries the main horror artwork and illuminated sign, while the lower level runs behind a silver-and-gold fenced loading deck. Raised figures project from the painted panels rather than everything being flat artwork, including a hanging figure over the platform and a larger character above the entrance track.

At the right-hand end is the optional ride-photo booth. For public events, individual photographs are £3 or two for £5. For corporate events we can quote an inclusive arrangement so guests receive the photographs without handling money at the booth.

How much space does the Ghost Train need?

The ride itself has a 78ft x 18ft footprint. We also need room for the queue, barriers, setup crew and transport access, so send us the usable area and site plan rather than allowing only the exact dimensions of the frontage.

Can the Ghost Train go on grass?

Yes, subject to the ground, levels and access being suitable. Concrete, hard standing, mixed ground, artificial grass and wood chip can also work; we check the particular site before confirming the setup.

Is there a photo booth with the ride?

A ride-photo booth is available as an option. Individual photographs are £3 or two for £5, while inclusive corporate packages can be quoted for events where guests should receive their photograph without paying at the booth.
