The fairground walkthrough

Every fair has a funhouse, and this is ours - a two-storey walkthrough where the children go up the ramp, disappear inside and come out the far end minutes later with a story to tell. There are two floors of obstacles to work through, with walkways and balconies across both, and the main event is the rotating barrel: you cross it while it turns under you. Being a walk-through rather than a thrill ride, children and adults go round together.

The frontage is a proper showman's board - two storeys of hand-painted cartoon characters, balcony sections with coloured railing work, all lit along the roofline by rows of fairground lights - so it anchors a fairground field the way a ride would, and photographs well from across the site.

It takes a 73ft x 50ft footprint, stands 20ft tall and needs 100ft x 75ft clear once the queueing and safety margins are allowed for. It goes indoors on hard floors or outside on grass, concrete, hard standing or wood chip, and staff to run it through the event are included in the hire.

The Funhouse at Your Event

    Two storeys to work through, with walkways, ramps and balcony sections along the way. Adults and children go round together - it's a walkthrough, not a thrill ride.

  • The Rotating Barrel

    The main event is the barrel you cross while it revolves under your feet, and it's part of the walkthrough.

  • Hand-Painted Frontage

    Cartoon characters painted across the whole two-storey front, with balcony sections and coloured railing work under lines of fairground lighting, painted rather than printed.

  • Ramp and Kiosk Entrance

    Access runs up a ramp with handrails to the entry kiosk, so pushchairs stay ground-level and the queue has somewhere to form.

  • Indoors or Outdoors

    It goes on grass, concrete, hard standing or wood chip, and indoors on hard floors where the 20ft height allows. Indoor venues should send their ceiling and access dimensions for confirmation.

  • Staffed and Insured

    Staff to run the Funhouse through the event are included - the queue is theirs to keep moving through the day - and every hire carries £5m public liability cover, with risk assessments and method statements available for your venue.

Hire starts at £1,795 + VAT with staff included to run the funhouse, all delivered and broken down from our own Rotherham warehouse - the same base the whole funfair fleet travels from. It's one of the biggest footprints we carry at 73ft x 50ft with 100ft x 75ft of clear space wanted, so a quick measure of the site before you enquire pays for itself.

It sits well beside the other fairground anchors - the Ghost Train, the Dodgems, the Waltzer and the Ferris Wheel - and all of them can go on one quote, one delivery and one invoice.

Built to travel, built to last

The whole walkthrough is a proper fairground build - timber, steel and paint rather than printed fabric - and it stands up to being weathered, moved and set up again on whatever surface the event has. Delivery, set-up and break-down are all handled by our own crew, and the access and timings for the site get confirmed when booking. Between hires the panels and railings are inspected, touched up in the workshop and stored ready for the next booking.
