The grandest entrance in the fleet

Pairs of nutcracker soldiers go out to stand either side of whatever deserves a guard of honour - a doorway, a stage, or Santa's grotto at the school fair. The figure is the old toy-soldier: painted face, gold crown, staff in hand, several colours across the range, and most of them about 6ft tall where a few run taller.

Weather doesn't shift them - a wet high street and a hotel lobby make the same impression - and they stand on weighted bases, so there's nothing to bolt down and moving one mid-setup takes seconds. Past Decembers have seen them along shop and office fronts, down market walkways and on gate duty at grottos, among them Amazon warehouse family Christmas days (where they flanked the grotto and throne chair) and the entrance at GLIDE House in Attercliffe for their office party.

And when the event calls for a whole town walked, the Nutcracker Trail turns 8 to 12 of these figures into a family trail with a booklet - one pair is a doorway, the trail is the afternoon.

Nutcracker Props at Your Event

  • Traditional Toy-Soldier Design

    Painted faces, gold crowns and staffs, with colours across the range - the soldier people know from the ballet and the shopfront both.

  • Around 6ft Tall

    Most of the range stands around 6ft, with some taller, so they hold their own beside a doorway, a stall row or a stage front.

  • Weatherproof Build

    Rain on a high street or a dry hotel floor - either way they keep rank. Grass, concrete, wood chip and hard standing outdoors; floors and artificial grass indoors.

  • Freestanding Weighted Bases

    Each figure stands on its own weighted base with no fixing needed, so repositioning during setup is a two-minute job.

  • Short or Long Hire

    Hire periods run short or long depending on what the display needs, with longer runs quoted to suit a season-long display.

  • £5m Public Liability

    Five million pounds of public liability insurance as standard, with delivery in our own vehicles from Rotherham.

Where they've stood

At grotto installs the pair takes up its post either side of Santa's grotto with the throne behind them. In market rows they've flanked the Christmas market stalls, and alongside the hot chocolate machine they've dressed the queue at the drinks stand.

For a full walk-around event, the Nutcracker Trail turns the same figures into a family activity rather than a backdrop.

The detail that carries a photo

A pair of nutcrackers is the dressing people notice in the background of every photo from the night. BIDs and councils book them for switch-ons because they hold a queue line, mark a doorway and give the fairground photos a proper Christmas uniform on both sides of the frame.

We supply props across a wide range, and the nutcrackers are the ones that come back every December - the figures have worked beside the rodeo reindeer and the market stalls on talk-of-the-town style events we've run from Rotherham.

How much do nutcracker props cost to hire?

Pairs start at £120 plus VAT. Give us the figure count and your dates and the display gets quoted - long runs open with a rate that suits a season-long booking.

How tall are the nutcrackers?

Most stand around 6ft tall, with some of the range taller. They come in a range of colours in the traditional toy-soldier design.

Can they go outdoors?

Yes - they're weatherproof and take outdoor work on grass, on concrete, on wood chip as much as on hard standing, and indoors on floors or artificial grass. They sit on weighted bases with no fixing needed.

Do we need to secure them?

No - each figure is freestanding on its own weighted base. They're stable in their own right, and we can talk through placement on busy walkways when you enquire.

Can we hire more than a pair?

How does delivery work?

Our own vans carry them from the Rotherham warehouse - South Yorkshire and the East Midlands as routine runs, and the whole UK when the display is a big one.
