Where can the trail run?

Town centres, shopping centres, Christmas markets and event spaces; figures can stand indoors, outdoors or in shop windows where the host agrees. Every position gets agreed with you before the install.

What does the booklet contain?

A map with the trail stops marked, the figures' names or colours as the answer prompts, and simple activities between stops. The Lichfield booklet carried a story, a spot-the-difference and a colouring page to enter.

How do families enter?

Finished entries go back through Santa's post box on the trail, or through the online form when the route spreads across locations. The prize is yours to supply - vouchers somewhere between £50 and £500 have been the usual ticket for it.

We do. The route is planned with your team in advance and each figure is installed by us, with £5 million public liability insurance and risk assessments sent to your team or venue first.

A Christmas treasure trail the families finish

Eight to twelve of the six-foot nutcracker soldiers stand guard at spots your town, shopping centre, market or event space nominates - a different uniform at every stop, and a booklet sending families from one to the next. Each figure carries a clue to record; finished entries go in Santa's post box on site, or through an online form if the trail spreads wider.

The route itself is planned together with your team, figure by figure, and our crew does the installing - standing some in participating shop windows where that suits the sponsors down the street. Between stops the booklet does the entertaining: a map with the route on, the figures' colours and names as the answers, and puzzles dotted through it.

Figures standing still draw admiration; a trail with a booklet and a prize at the end gets completed, and completed is what brings the same families back through a whole season.

A town-centre season-stretcher

Shopping centres, town councils and BIDs keep the format going because the booklet works across weeks, not one afternoon: the route runs past the sponsoring shops, and entries come back across the whole run. It's the light switch-on's seasonal pull, spread out.

We've been running public, corporate and community events since 1999 and the trail is the piece of Christmas kit that gets quoted earlier than anything else - writing, printing and agreeing the booklet takes time, so autumn is when the route should be settled.
