The cottage in the grotto fleet

Of our two deluxe grottos this is the one that reads as a cottage: brick walls to the print, snow along the roofline, a chimneystack on top and a curtained archway standing in for the front door. Walk through it and you're in the printed fireplace room, with Father Christmas artwork all round and the lights and dressing already hung.

It's also the shell to pick the moment your site leaves the grass. The log-cabin deluxe stays off concrete and wood chip; this one anchors on hard standing, paved squares, playgrounds and mixed ground outdoors, and indoors it takes hard flooring or artificial grass, needing the same 11ft headroom a standard hall already has.

Through December it works office parties, school fairs, shopping-centre days and corporate promo events. Children queue in for Father Christmas, the grown-ups get a look in too, and marketing teams keep borrowing the idea as a walk-in festive photo box. The December calendars fill two months early, so hold your date before you hold anything else.

    A full brick-cottage frontage with snow along the roofline and a chimney, framed by Father Christmas and reindeer artwork over a curtained archway.

  • Five-Minute Setup

    From blower on to door open is around five minutes, and packing down after runs at about ten - handy when a hall needs clearing for the next booking.

  • Wider Outdoor Range

    The cottage anchors on grass, hard standing, concrete, mixed ground or wood chip outdoors, where the log-cabin shell stays on grass and hard standing.

  • Mains or Generator

    The blower and the lights run off a mains supply. On sites without one, a generator comes along and the two are priced together.

  • £5m Public Liability

    Five million pounds of public liability insurance on every hire, with risk assessments emailed to your venue before the day.

Size, site and surface

The shell sits on a 12ft x 13ft footprint, 10.5ft high. Plan a floor area of 13ft x 14ft under 11ft of headroom - roomier halls and function rooms clear that easily, and some that fall short of the taller standard grotto manage this one fine.

£395 plus VAT is the start point. On grass-only sites the log-cabin deluxe does the same walk-in job at £295, and the picket-fenced standard grotto begins at £245.

Dressed for the visit, not just the photo

Companies run the cottage as a festive photo box as often as a meet-Santa queue - the printed fireplace interior gives every walk-in photo a proper backdrop, and the gold throne chair (a separate extra that fits through the archway) bookends the visit when Father Christmas has a full day of seeing children.

Community halls are old ground for this one - Kilnhurst Community Resource Centre in Doncaster took a grotto from us for their council-run Christmas event, and when you'd sooner not issue your own staff to it, one of our trained supervisors can hold the door instead. The whole thing has come off our own vehicles out of the 25,000 sq ft Rotherham warehouse since 1999, public liability cover of £5 million riding on every booking.

The throne chair is a separate extra that fits through the archway and books alongside any of our grottos - mention it when you enquire and we'll add it to the quote.
