Fairground ride hire at Penistone Showground

Penistone Showground is a working agricultural showground on the edge of Penistone, west of Barnsley. It's the kind of ground we know the feel of: a proper field, weather that keeps things honest, and a crowd that turns up for the show rather than for us. The September agricultural show is what the showground is known for, and our own work here has been the summer jobs in between - dodgems, helter skelter and the rest coming off the trailers to spend a weekend on the field.

Because it's an outdoor site on farmland, we plan the work around ground conditions and generators. Rides go in with their own self-contained power where the run from the mains isn't practical, and our own transport and crew handle set-up and breakdown so nothing is left to a third party. Every ride we bring is staffed by trained operators we employ ourselves. The most recent work here was a pair of summer 2025 jobs: a return visit with our mobile climbing wall, black gazebos and a PA speaker, staffed throughout for an event on the field.

Around 80 products are on the books, from the big mechanical rides to the row of stalls and the fairground food, so a showground field can take a full funfair or just a centrepiece and a handful of stalls alongside the exhibitors.
