Fits the bowl, but only just

The Fish Bowl Challenge is a fairground classic built on a single piece of geometry. A grid of glass fish bowls sits on the board, and you throw a ball into one of them. The ball fits the bowl - and that's the whole trick, because it fits but only just, and it tends to pop straight back out on contact with the sides. Staying in is the whole game.

Accuracy matters more than pace, and the players who treat it like a soft drop rather than a throw tend to walk off with the prize. That's harder than it sounds once the queue has been telling you to throw harder for ten minutes.

The game runs in its own flight-case unit - grid of bowls in the base, lid open for the backboard - on a trestle table under the striped canopy. It's one of the four games inside our Grand Carnival stalls; this is the standalone hire of it, for the events that want one more stall rather than the four-game unit.

The Fish Bowl Challenge at Your Event

  • One Ball, Stay In

Land a ball in a glass fish bowl and make it stay there. It fits - but only just - so the ball pops back out more often than it settles.

  • Flight-Case Unit

The game lives in its own flight case - grid of bowls in the base, lid open for the backboard - setting up on a trestle table with nothing to assemble.

  • Any Surface

No grass required. The unit sets up on hard standing or a closed road as easily as on a field, and it goes indoors on a hard floor or artificial grass for the winter bookings.

  • Brandable

Your artwork can go on the stall front for the hire - sticker transfers fitted for a single event, taken off afterwards so the next booking gets a clean surface.

  • Staffing Your Way

The hire doesn't come staffed. We can put one of our team on it to run the game and hand out the prizes, or you can run it with your own stewards - say which you would prefer.

  • £5m Public Liability

Five million pounds of public liability insurance comes with the hire, and the risk assessments and method statements go to your organiser or venue beforehand.

What's included

  • The Fish Bowl Challenge flight-case unit with backboard
  • The glass fish bowls and the throwing balls
  • A trestle table and the striped canopy
  • Delivery, setup and collection by our own team
  • £5m public liability insurance as standard

Staffing is priced separately from this one - our qualified staff can run the stall and hand out the prizes if you would rather not put your own people on it. Prizes can be supplied alongside; ask for the current options when you enquire.

Planning the hire

Tell us the event date, postcode, surface and expected numbers, and whether you want our staff running the stall or your own.

The Fish Bowl Challenge is priced with the event rather than from a fixed list price, and as a single-stall add-on it prices into a row more cheaply than it hires alone. It sits naturally with the Tin Can Alley and Ball in a Bucket - the three flight-case games make a natural cluster - with the Darts stall alongside.

Your written quote will cover the delivered price, staffing if you want it, and the setup details for the site.

Common Questions

How much does Fish Bowl Challenge hire cost?

It's priced with the event rather than from a fixed list price, and staffing is quoted separately. Send the date, postcode and what else is coming on the day and we'll return a delivered quote.

How do you win?

You throw a ball into one of the glass fish bowls and it's to stay there. The ball fits the bowl, but only just, so it tends to pop back out on contact with the sides - accuracy and a soft drop win it more often than pace.

Does it need grass?

No. The flight-case unit works on hard standing, closed roads and town squares as well as grass, and it goes indoors, which makes it a regular at the winter events.

Is it the same game as in the Grand Carnival stalls?

Yes - the Fish Bowl Challenge is one of the four games inside our Grand Carnival stalls. This is the standalone hire of the same game, for events that want one more stall rather than the four-game unit.

Is the stall staffed?

Not as standard - the hire price doesn't include staff. We can add one of our qualified team to run it and hand out prizes, or your own people can. Say which you would prefer when you enquire.
